Proclamations

​

A town crier proclamation is a formal public announcement delivered loudly to declare an event. They traditionally start with "Oyez, Oyez, Oyez" (hear ye) to command attention and end with "God Save the King!"

 

Proclamations can be made to announce any significant event - a birthday, an anniversary, a baptism or christening, the start of a corporate or charity event, the opening of a shop or office, the launching of a ship, literally anything!

I write and deliver my proclamations, but will work closely with you so as to include all the information you wish to be in the proclamation. Typically a proclamation will be lasts no more than 3-5 minutes, which means the word count is in the region of 150 to 200 words. If booked for a proclamation, I will normally attend the event for 20-30 minutes to allow for setting up, delivery of the proclamation and time for photographs.
 

My charge for creating and delivering a proclamation is £50.00 plus mileage (if event not on Isle of Sheppey) of £0.50 per mile, measured from mainland end of Sheppey Crossing.
 

Proclamations in support of registered charities or for community events on the Island of Sheppey will be free of charge.

A copy of the proclamation can be provided for a fee of £10.00.

Attendance at corporate or publicity event

 

With my booming voice and traditional handbell, I can instantly capture the attention of passers-by for shop promotions, brand events, or product launches. I will add a unique, nostalgic, and entertaining element to corporate events, and festivals.

 

I am a professional performer who can deliver tailor-made scripts highlighting any specific points you wish to raise and introducing or mentioning any people or characteristiics that you wish to emphasise.

 

I will bring an air of authority to your events and my traditional livery, tricorne hat, and dramatic delivery will provide memorable, high-quality media opportunities.

As well as delivering a tailor-made proclamation, I can remain at the event to make further announcements and act as Master of Ceremonies.

For attendance at corporate or publicity events I charge £50.00 per hour or part thereof, subject to minimum of £100.00 + mileage as above.

Weddings

 

Hiring a town crier for a wedding adds a traditional, high-profile and theatrical element. I can act as a unique Toastmaster or Master of Ceremonies. I will be able to make formal proclamations, announce speeches, greet guests, and lead processions, all the time creating memorable photo opportunities. For attendance at a wedding reception I charge £50.00 per hour or part thereof, subject to minimum of £100.00 + mileage as above.

If you are not having a formal reception, or your chosen venue already has someone in place who can act as Master of Ceremonies, I can offer the following stand alone services:

 

• Wake-up call - I can make the bride's day start in a unique and memorable way by delivering a specially-written wake-up call for her as she begins to prepare for the ceremony.

• Proclamation - a specially written proclamation delivered either outside the location of the marriage ceremony or at the reception venue
